GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES PROVIDER KAPLAN ACQUIRES PRO LINGUIS

NEW YORK, NY (July 22, 2008) – Kaplan, Inc., a leading global provider of educational services for individuals, schools and businesses, announced today that it has acquired Pro Linguis, a premier provider of educational services for students and professionals in Switzerland. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. 

Headquartered in Zurich, Pro Linguis was established in 1955 and today operates through a network of 10 offices throughout Switzerland. Kaplan is a world leader in education, serving more than one million students annually in 600 locations in 36 countries. Kaplan’s programs include higher and professional education, language instruction, test preparation for professional licensing and university and graduate admissions exams, and services to elementary/secondary students and schools. 

Over the past five years, Kaplan has acquired several European-based educational operations, including London-based Financial Training Company (FTC, now Kaplan Financial), a leading international accountancy trainer; Dublin Business School, Ireland’s largest private college; and Aspect Education, a leading provider of academic English language education around the world.  Kaplan has also launched pathway programs for overseas students seeking entrance into prestigious U.K and U.S. universities, including the University of Liverpool, the University of Sheffield and Northeastern University (Boston), as well as Kaplan Open Learning, which offers online degrees in the U.K.
