Course trains and certifies industry professionals to teach financial literacy in the community at HOPE Inside Certified Plus locations

Davenport, IA – (January 13, 2015) – Kaplan University, in partnership with Operation HOPE, today launched the Operation HOPE Financial Literacy (HFL) Professional Certification Training course. Specifically designed to prepare financial professionals to teach financial literacy workshops in the community, the self-paced, non-credit course is being offered through Open College at Kaplan University, a new college within Kaplan University.

“HOPE Inside Certified Plus puts financial literacy foot soldiers on the ground. In today’s world, a solid understanding of financial matters is as fundamental as learning to read and write. The Financial Literacy Professional Certification course is one of the first-ever online financial literacy platform, created to qualify financial industry professionals to teach financial literacy,” said John Hope Bryant Operation HOPE founder, chairman and CEO.

Available exclusively to Operation HOPE Inside Certified Plus partners, the HFL Professional Certification is awarded to financial professionals who successfully complete the course, which also includes valuable resources that can be used to conduct workshops in the community.

“The Financial Literacy course is designed by Operation HOPE and delivered by Kaplan University to not only provide the community with the understanding of how money and finances work, but to also create a cohesive standard of excellence that equips bank employees to teach financial literacy in their community,” said Dr. Wade Dyke, President of Kaplan University.

Through its many partners, which include the U.S. Small Business Association, the Financial Services Roundtable, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the American Bankers Association, numerous banking partners, and many other government and community organizations, Operation HOPE has empowered more than 2.2 million individuals since 1992.
