Tom Horton oversees Kaplan’s corporate and strategic development, including acquisitions, investments, partnerships, new business initiatives, and strategic planning. He also provides consultative support to Kaplan’s leaders on high priority operational improvement and product quality initiatives.

Horton served in a similar role at McKesson Technology Solutions, the former healthcare technology software and services division of McKesson Corp., at which he was Senior Vice President and Chief Process Officer. As both an independent consultant and senior-level corporate executive, Tom’s career has spanned the education, healthcare, and technology sectors. This experience includes serving in senior positions at IDX Corporation, a healthcare information technology supplier, working in both their U.S. and U.K. operations, as well as several years at McKinsey & Company in their Montreal, Stockholm, and Stamford offices. He began his career as a history teacher, coach, and Academic Director at Burke Mountain Academy (East Burke, Vermont), a specialized private high school for top-caliber ski racers and the first dedicated sports academy in the U.S., where a number of his students went on to compete on various national and Winter Olympic teams.

Horton earned a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College.
