Brandon Busteed Joins Kaplan in New Role Focusing on University Partnerships
Fort Lauderdale, FL, October 1, 2018—Brandon Busteed, who led Gallup’s education work for the past seven years, has joined Kaplan, Inc. in the new role of President, University Partners, Kaplan North America. Busteed will oversee Kaplan’s university partnerships in North America, leveraging assets from across the company’s many educational offerings, which include: international student recruiting, pathway programs, student residence development, online program enablement, university hosting, professional education, test preparation, learning platforms, assessment capabilities, and supplemental course content.
Kaplan, Inc. is the global educational services company and largest subsidiary of the Graham Holdings Company (NYSE : GHC).
“We are excited to welcome a true higher education thought leader. Brandon will drive Kaplan’s efforts to help American universities develop new approaches to generating revenue, diversifying their student populations, establishing a strong international presence, and providing best-in-class student services,” said Andrew Rosen, Kaplan’s Chairman and CEO. “University partnerships have been one of Kaplan’s largest areas of focus over the last decade and also among our fastest growing businesses.”
Busteed’s 20-year career has been largely focused on the education arena. As Senior Partner and Global Head, Public Sector at Gallup, he oversaw higher education, government, foundation and corporate social impact. Prior to joining Gallup, Busteed was the founder and former CEO of Outside The Classroom, a company that pioneered adaptive online education to change risky student behaviors. He sold the company to EverFi in 2011.
In his new role, Busteed will be based out of the Graham Holdings Company offices in Rosslyn, VA, outside of Washington, DC.
“Kaplan’s impressive breadth of educational offerings, its well-respected role for innovation in learning and instruction, and its global recognition for excellence provides an extraordinary opportunity for me,” said Busteed. “I’ve spent the last seven years studying higher education from nearly every angle, and it’s clear to me that universities need to adapt and grow in important ways. And Kaplan is in a better position to help universities do that than any other organization.”
Busteed is a graduate of Duke University, where he studied public policy. He is a trustee-emeritus of Duke and also served on the Board of Visitors for the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. He is a frequent speaker and author on higher education innovation.
