Kaplan International Colleges to prepare students for the University of Brighton
New international college to open in Brighton in September 2011, with KIC's first-ever guaranteed progression route to pharmacy degrees.
London - Kaplan International Colleges will prepare international students for entry to undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses at the University of Brighton, it was announced today. The move opens up a wealth of new opportunities in Britain for international students.
A new UK-based college – the University of Brighton's International College – will open on the campus of the University of Brighton in September 2011, offering international students high-quality, tailored and flexible university preparation programmes that will allow them to progress to the University as early as September 2012.
"The University of Brighton is a community that values international students -- their experience and personal perspective -- and will support them throughout their course and into their chosen career," said Professor Julian Crompton, Brighton's Vice-Chancellor.
Students attending the International College will benefit from Kaplan's excellent standards of university preparation teaching, highly relevant course content and first-class English language support, as well as access to the University of Brighton's fantastic facilities from day one of their course.
Once at the University of Brighton, students can enjoy life at one of the UK's leading new universities, with leading teaching quality, a strong research record, career-focused courses and a thriving academic community of over 21,000 students from almost 150 countries worldwide. Furthermore, the university offers 40 scholarships to international students each year, as well as hosting a wide range of international societies and clubs. A number of International Alumni Ambassadors are available to prospective students who may want to contact someone from their home country to find out more about studying in Brighton.
In addition, KIC has agreed a pioneering pharmacy progression route with the University of Brighton, providing international students with a one-year pathway to one of the University's most competitive programmes. The new agreement with the University of Brighton – the first of its kind at Kaplan International Colleges – offers students guaranteed progression to a pharmacy degree following successful completion of their university preparation programme in Science and Engineering at the required level.
The University of Brighton has a strong reputation in Pharmacy and Pharmacology, being ranked 22nd overall in the UK, with a perfect 100% score for graduates in graduate employment or further study six months after graduating, putting it above a number of prestigious universities in that respect (The Times Good University Guide 2011). Pharmacy degree courses at the university are developed in close collaboration with industry and professional bodies, and work placements are offered to give students further opportunities to enhance their skills and develop a network of industry contacts.
The city of Brighton offers the buzz, contemporary feel and excellent transport links of a large city combined with the friendliness and compactness of a small town, as well as a beautiful setting on the south coast of England with a favourable climate and tranquil surrounding countryside.
"We are confident that international students coming to Brighton will have a fantastic experience, both in their studies and social life," said Linda Cowan, Managing Director of Kaplan International Colleges. "We look forward to welcoming students to the University of Brighton's International College and helping them to achieve their goals of academic and career success."
