Fifth Annual Kaplan University Academic Report Details Student-Centered Service and Previews New Strategic Focus

Jan. 12, 2015

DAVENPORT, IA – (January 12, 2015) – Kaplan University has issued its fifth annual Academic Report demonstrating its accomplishments, outcomes, and ongoing progress on key institutional metrics over the last academic year. The report also introduces University-wide initiatives for new curriculum models such as modularization and competency-based learning.

“Kaplan University is committed to more than conferring degrees. We provide an affordable, outcomes-focused education that enables our students to gain new career skills, obtain success in their careers, and achieve their dreams,” said Dr. Betty Vandenbosch, Kaplan University Provost. “Our Academic Report provides a thorough account of the important initiatives and events that inspire and guide our work.”

Throughout the 2013-2014 academic year, a strategic focus for Kaplan University has been curriculum development that allows students to maximize their previous education and experience. Pilot studies concluded that a modular curriculum improved student experience and performance and reduced the amount of time a student needs to complete their degree. The University’s survey of final-term students showed 96 percent believe what they learned at Kaplan University will help them reach their personal and career goals.

The nearly 50-page annual report covers the academic year beginning July 1, 2013 and ending June 30, 2014 and includes details about the educational experience, student learning and employment outcomes. In addition, the report profiles Kaplan University individual schools and programs.

“It is important for Kaplan University to compile the Academic Report for the fifth year, even when some institutions do not produce a similar document, because it allows us to provide transparency with our stakeholders,” said Kaplan University President Dr. Wade Dyke. “This, with other benchmarks like U.S News & World Report’s annual rankings, the Adult Learner Inventory and the National Survey of Student Engagement show Kaplan University in a positive light.”

For the second consecutive year, Kaplan University last week was named one of the Best Online Bachelor Degree Programs by U.S. News & World Report. In May, the University also ranked 20th among news website’s Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans.

Additional report highlights include:

  • Kaplan University conferred 13,454 degrees in the academic year.
